Position Title: Business Development Intern
Responsibilities
- Partner Sales & Account Management Support: Assist the team in managing key retailer accounts, ensuring smooth communication and addressing any retailer inquiries or concerns.
- Sales Strategy & Reporting: Help analyze grocery industry data, performance metrics, and trends to identify opportunities for growth in the retail sector.
- Retailer Optimization: Partner with the Catalog, Merchandising, and Operations teams to audit the key success metrics across 4,300+ stores . You will help identify areas of opportunity and partner with our Product team for solutions.
- Collaboration Across Teams: Work with marketing, finance, product, operations and more across the company.
- Product Experience Mapping: Collaborate with the Product team to research and define app features that solve for common friction points, such as delivery speed improvements, complex sales logic discrepancies, and regional bag/bottle fees.
- Strategic Reporting & Analytics: Assist the lead in managing all reporting requests for cohort of top performing retailers. You will help analyze GMV trends, basket sizes, and C360 penetration to rank metro priority for catalog/data resources .
- Merchandising Strategy: Help determine how we treat sales and promotions in the app when complex sales calculations are involved. You will spend time on pricing logic and OCR price correction data to ensure pricing integrity on the select retailers.
- Store Operations Research: Deep-dive into in-store mechanics across a retailer portfolio, including store hour monitoring, payment method acceptance (Apple Pay/Virtual Cards), and self-checkout policies to improve Shopper Education.
- Vendor Governance: Gain exposure to external account management by assisting in the tracking of data vendor delivery speeds and Q&A standards for third party vendors.
- Learning & Development: Take part in weekly team meetings, where you’ll learn from industry experts and contribute to strategic discussions focused on the grocery sector.
- Special Research Project (The "Feasibility" Playbook): Own a deep-dive research project to develop a "Retailer Launch Scorecard." You will conduct a discovery of select retailers to develop a scorecard for their e-comm readiness.
Qualification
- Education & Experience: Current student pursuing a degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and a detail-oriented mindset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential.
- Curiosity & Drive: A passion for learning, especially within the retail industry. You’ll need to be proactive and eager to take on new challenges.
- Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively across different teams while also being able to take ownership of individual tasks.
- Organizational Skills: The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, ensuring deadlines are met with attention to detail.
- Interest in the Grocery Industry: A basic understanding of the grocery retail sector, consumer shopping behavior, and sales trends in the food and beverage space is an advantage, but a strong willingness to learn is key!
- Interest in Sales: A basic understanding of retail operations and sales strategies will be an advantage, but a willingness to learn is key!
Compensation
This position is expected to pay $24–$46 per hour.
